DHS/USCG FOIA Department reorganized to cover up this issue. They completely removed everyone with knowledge of the documents of this event and even sent a letter FIRST EVER saying they had covered it up and to contact someone who, the next day, no longer worked for DHS FOIA

Southern Scrap would LOVE to be taken over by the government, they have 20th century insurance policies, which means if their properties are SEIZED, they net massive insurance payoffs. MORESO: If the federal state or local government SEIZE the properties, especially the scrap yard, the government gets responsibility for the SUPERFUND class mess in New Orleans Industrial Canal and "MR-GO" which has been in violation of EPA regulations since before EPA existed. Additionally, forcing them to move would provide reparations in the construction of the KILLONA (map) facility which though suited geophysically, is a horrible environmental situation as well.

Regardless, with the explict psuedo-terrorist (and plausibly intentional given the prior weeks court case) situation of the NOLA Industrial canal, it is far more likely US Fed will simply nationalize the entire industry and try to blame *ona* (+phonetics)

Southern Scrap (EMR) has already purchased the huge forthcoming facility property at KILLONA (map) which is the only area of the river large enough for large vessel breaking. There are no environmental restrictions there.
The 3 MARAD GHOST FLEET vessels which ended up in the I-10 and Florida Ave bridges, Nola pump station #19, etc were delivered there by MARAD.dot.gov on Aug 13, 2008
SoRec-EMR has a hundred years worth of insurance policy.... If they get shut down and kicked out of Industrial Canal, they get insurance payoffs and the government would inherit the environmental (superfund) situation there.

Though over half the "70+" were smaller vessels or tanks or other objects, aside from the barges, the three MARAD Ghost Ships are significant.

They came from the NDRF National Defense Reserve Fleet aka MARAD GHOST FLEET most recently at Beaumont.
Southern Scrap aka SoREC-EMR has recently purchased the obvious location northwest of town KILLONA 15 miles up river to consolidate all large-vessel breaking operations.
MARAD tried to sell the Export Courier as the USCGC Courier, the flagship of Voice Of American propoganda agency for the USIA created during the "IKE" cold war. The confederate sub Hunley is being touted this week as its museum is opened.

  • In July, MARAD lauded the highly profitable sale of USNS American Explorer and USCGC Courier to Southern Scrap Recycling for $millions. MARAD claims the vessel sold was the USCGC COURIER, obviously wrong, because it is the EXPORT COURIER. MARAD is supposedly the authority over these vessels, so despite a few hundred feet length, 30 width, and the fact one was scrapped in the 1970s after serving State Department propoganda and this one went to Iraq in 1992 and is now lodged at I-10 bridge, im sure its an easy, and PROFITABLE "mistake"...
  • MARAD delivered these vessels to SoREC-EMR in late August, 2008 and tied them up at NOLA Industrial Canal near Florida Ave Bridge
  • SoRec/Souther Scrap also received some barges and a navy freighter (Export Courier) and tanker (American Explorer) in late August as well. They had a federal court case allow Army to sue them for a very illegitimate ($8 Million usd for nothing) Army contract to another party related to Katrina debris on Monday of the prior week.
  • Hurricane Gustav arrived in New Orleans on September 1, 2008
  • USS American Explorer and Export Courier, delivered only weeks prior from MARAD, along with 60 other vessels from Southern Scrap, were set loose in the Industrial Canal in New Orleans
  • The American Explorer (Naval Supply Tanker) slammed into the jammed CSX railroad bridge at Florida Ave Bridge, along with whatever it is teathered to.
  • USCGC Courier, a US Coast Guard Cutter, (500 ft) flagship of Voice of America VOA.GOV communist broadcasting for the propoganda agency USIA (United States Information Agency) operated by the Coast Guard, is missing. It is unclear what this teathered vessel is. USCGC Courier or another scrapper?
  • Southern Scrap MARAD GHOST FLEET American Explorer SLAMS INTO THE FLOOD CONTROL WALL AT FLORIDA BRIDGE AND THEN RAMS INTO THE FLOOD CONTROL FACILITY AND PUMP COMPLEX (sewage and flood pump facility) during Hurricane Gustav until it is rammed into the FLOOD INTAKE FACILITY by a uscg vessel until tugs can appear late monday and continuously push them against the "warf".
  • Export Courier is the vessel you see in media wedged on the Natural Gas pipe and slammed into the I-10 bridge in New Orleans.
  • Media reports are intentionally avoiding the actual situation, knowingly confusing the two large barges and the Export Courier vessel at I-10 (also Southern Scrap) with the guised two vessels (possibly sank???) from MARAD and some barges at the Florida Bridge and pump station.
  • Mayor, Governor, FEMA, Army, DHS, USCG, etc all have commented on the vessels, Dupre (Southern Scrap) also confirmed a ship (possibly many) sunk in Industrial Canal. This is likely the USS American Explorer and whatever it is teathered to after sitting in the pump facility and on the Florida Ave bridge.Obviously the I-10 barge and USS Export Courier freighter on the natural gas pipe are a problem as well.
  • GAG ORDERS BY DHS HAVE BEEN ISSUED ABOUT THE MARAD VESSELS AND THE SUNKEN VESSELS, MEDIA REPORTS ARE DISAPPEARING, EVEN MAYOR/GOVERNOR/FEMA/DHS/ARMY PRESS RELEASES ARE BEING WHITEWASHED / CENSORED AND REMOVED
  • Access to Florida Ave and surrounding facilities (and any vantage point over Southern Scrap) is prevented by DHS/Army, few pictures other than the I-10 pileup are available (censored) and all reports are stricken regarding the American Explorer, Pump Facility, Flood Walls, and the rest of Southern Scrap mess...GO TO FLORIDA AVE ON A BIKE WITH YOUR CAMERA!

As Able-UK said, the persistence of the various tree-huggers is very annoying, the local environmental issues are not the concern, the new TeaSide facility is not horribly operated, the environmental concerns are noted but nominal if they do their jobs correctly. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT IS ILLEGAL FOR FRANCE TO NOT DEAL WITH IT and thus should be prevented by international law.
